  1. Slightly mash black beans in a bowl.
  2. Add in onion, tomato, cilantro and optional jalapeƱo.
  3. Mash ingredients together so the beans are about 2/3 mashed.
  4. Add in olive oil and spices, then stir together with a spoon.
  5. Cover and set Machaca aside or refrigerate for about 20 minutes to allow the flavors to marry before serving.
